Multi-wavelength observations of Galactic black hole transients during state transitions and in the low/hard state may provide detailed information on the accretion structure of these systems. During the decay of the 2002 outburst from 4U 1543-47, we obtained very good (daily) coverage of the source in X-ray (RXTE) and infrared bands. The source was also reasonably well observed during this phase of the outburst at optical and radio wavelengths. When all the available information is gathered together in the intermediate and the low/hard state, 4U 1543-47 contributes strongly to understanding state transitions and the role of outflows on the high energy emission properties of black hole binaries. The evolution of the X-ray spectral and temporal parameters and the IR light curve place strong constraints on theoretical models for explaining the emission from accreting black holes at different phases of the outburst decay.
