In astronomy education circles, there seems to be a strong focus on local subjects: phases, eclipses, seasons, backyard astronomy, etc. Much astronomy education research has been carried out in these areas, but less effort has been made for more exotic astrophysical topics. This is unfortunate, because some of the most exciting and personally meaningful discoveries in astronomy surround less entry-level topics, notably (but not exclusively) cosmology. I will be sharing some thoughts on what information we might target for assimilation by students, and citing data from final exams to illustrate how students receive it.
