The distribution of H I in Sex A is investigated by means of interferometric observations obtained at velocity resolution 6.2 km/s with the D configuration of the VLA on August 2, 1984. The results are presented in extensive graphs and contour maps and discussed in detail. The H I distribution is characterized by (1) two dominant clumps showing recent star formation, (2) an extended outer region of surface density less than 10 to the 21st atoms/sq cm containing about half of the H I, and (3) generally good correlation with the optical structure of Sex A, except that the velocity field is not aligned with the optical symmetry axis. The latter observation is tentatively attributed to gas moving in elliptical orbits.
