Preliminary results are reported on the efficacy of using infrared (J-K) color maps from imaging observations of several spiral galaxies to infer the stellar abundance gradients across spiral disks. The galaxy sample includes a handful of Virgo spirals of differing gas deficiency for which abundance profiles have already been studied using extant HII region data. The current investigation is motivated by the following considerations: (1) HII regions cannot be used to determine abundances where there is not much gas or many large OB stars, as is usually the case in systems which have been stripped through interactions within clusters; and (2) it is desirable from galactic chemical evolution considerations to probe the relation between stellar and interstellar abundance ratios.
