Chandra has detected a multitude of X-ray sources in external galaxies, but very little is known about the stellar environments of the sources. We present a study of the stellar environments of X-ray sources in the Local Group Galaxy NGC 6822 using Chandra and HST archived data. A total of 64 X-ray sources have been detected using Chandra, about half of which are background sources. Eight sources fall on existing WFPC/HST images. One is extended in X-ray and has soft colors, indicating it may be an SNR. Another has very hard colors and is highly absorbed. The stellar sources around it have optical colors that are significantly bluer that the general galaxy population. It seems to be coincident with a blue young cluster, although we cannot rule out that it is a background galaxy. The other seven X-ray sources are surrounded by stars that have colors more typical of the general population. This work was supported by NASA contract NAS8-03060 and NAS8-39073.
