Models of many gravitationally lensed quasars require a strong external shear in addition to the potential of the lensing galaxy to reproduce positions and flux ratios of the lensed images, particularly for widely-separated, asymmetric systems. The shear may be from a galaxy cluster or group associated with the lensing galaxy or otherwise along the line-of-sight to the quasar. Groups found via this method have been selected by the influence of their mass rather than their luminosity and may better sample the group mass to light ratio distribution. Typical lensing systems have a redshift of 0.3 to 1, sampling a higher redshift range than is found in most group catalogs. We present Chandra images and luminosities or luminosity limits for optically detected lensing groups associated with multiply imaged gravitationally lensed quasars. We will also discuss techniques for detecting these kinds of diffuse, low contrast sources. This research was supported by NASA contracts NAS-8-38252 and NAS-8-37716.
