I review constraints on the distribution of dark matter in galaxy clusters obtained from Chandra and XMM observations. Masses of cD clusters obtained from X-ray and gravitational lensing studies generally show good agreement, therefore providing important validation of both methods. Gas fractions have been obtained for several clusters that verify previous results for a low matter density. The radial density profiles in galaxy clusters are found to agree well with CDM predictions both inside and outside their cores. In particular, the dark matter profiles measured deep down into the cores of relaxed galaxy clusters rule out an important contribution from self-interacting dark matter of the kind proposed to account for dark matter in the cores of LSB galaxies
