The survey of H 1 emission from the Galactic plane which is currently underway using the Synthesis Telescope at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (DRAO), as a major part of the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey, requires single-dish observations of H 1 emission to provide structural information that is missing from the interferometric observations (the so-called ``short spacing'' data). A fast H 1 line survey of about 1000 square degrees of the Galactic plane, which will be used for this purpose, is now being carried out using the DRAO 26-m Telescope. This survey of H 1 line emission will be fully sampled spatially, yielding nearly 25,000 spectra covering the velocity range of -260 km/s to 160 km/s. The survey covers the Galactic longitude range of 72.2arcdeg to 149arcdeg , between Galactic latitudes of -5.4arcdeg and 7.2arcdeg . The spectra have 512 channels with a resolution of 1.3 km/s. The survey will be completed in 1997 and the data will then be corrected for the effects of sidelobe contamination. Initial results of the survey will be presented.
