Stellar Models: Stellar Collapse
Scientific paper
The initial value problem for a compact, spherically symmetric star with a rather general equation of state is discussed. For any given time it is possible to calculate the area of the spheres of symmetry which intersect the boundary, if space-time is C5 and the initial energy density is smooth and satisfies some minor technical conditions. The physical relevance of this result is also discussed.
