We will use XMM-Newton to search for the progenitor of a newly-discovered 1-pc-diameter warm dust shell associated with the star-forming complex in Ophiuchus. ROSAT data on the possible progenitor of this shell indicate that it may well be an exotic compact object, and our observations will explore this possibilty. Our observations will also characterize an embedded young cluster associated with the young B star Rho-Oph. This cluster, which is not the same as the confusingly named "Rho-Oph," 1 deg to its south, was not known until we discovered a group of ROSAT sources associated with the star Rho-Oph, interior to the warm dust ring. Our data will allow us to evaluate the idea that the northern cluster triggered star formation in the southern one.
