We propose to observe the open cluster NGC 6475 (age ~200 Myr) to investigate the activity-rotation-age relationship of low-mass stars emerged from ROSAT observations. We will use XMM observations of the proposed cluster to go a factor of 10 deeper than ROSAT (to detect possible previously unseen low-luminosity populations) and to obtain spectral information on the brightest cluster members. We will compare the X-ray luminosity function of the cluster with the similar age cluster NGC 1039 and with younger and older clusters already observed by us with XMM. This comparison will provide strong constraints on the universality (or lack of) of the activity-rotation-age relationship in the crucial age interval between the Pleiades and the Hyades.
