A comparison is presented of the properties found in the planets of the solar system, and how they relate to the evolution of life on earth is discussed. Attention is given to tectonic processes that are observed throughout the solar system. It is also pointed out that the evolution of many bodies in the solar system has been altered by collisional processes.
