Observations from the medium-frequency (MF) and Eiscat radars of winds and tides are compared to VHF radar observations and to rocket data to evaluate Eiscat and MF data relative to each other. The wind and tide data correspond to the region 80-120 km, and the MF data are shown to yield consistently reduced values for the magnitudes and amplitudes. The reduced signal-to-noise ratio of the MF radar scatter are shown to be the cause of the discrepancy, and when the winds and tides are adjusted accordingly good agreement is found. Seasonal variations are noted in the wind and tide data from both incoherent scatter and MF radars when adjustments are made to account for the tidal averaging intervals of the databases.
