A quasi-static model of the magnetosphere is proposed which makes it possible to take into account variations of the magnetospheric field with characteristic times of about one hour. Model calculations are compared with data on the magnetic storm of 23-24 March 1969. It is concluded that the field of the magnetotail current system makes a substantial contribution to the Dst variation.
