It is noted that Venusian geological features found in Magellan imagery of Venus may be considered as analogs of those geological features of the early earth which led to the formation of Archean earth greenstone belts. Such belts have been suggested to have structural origins in downwarps, volcano sedimentary basin downsagging, plate tectonics, and meteoritic impact structures.
