Data on the velocity distributions of pickup ions in the vicinity of
Comet Halley that were obtained by the Giotto spacecraft are presented.
Combination of data from two different instruments allows a comparative
study of the pitch-angle scattering rates and velocity diffusion rates
of protons and water-group ions.
