Jupiter Interior:Models, Saturn Interior:Models

Models of the interior of Saturn are currently limited by the low accuracy of data on the gravitational moments of the planet and large uncertainties in atmospheric composition. This is in contrast to Jupiter, for which the gravitational moments are better known and thus the behavior of hydrogen and helium at high pressure is a driving uncertainty. The Galileo probe will provide highly accurate data on the abundances of helium and minor constituents in Jupiter's troposhere. Cassini will accurately determine the tropospheric helium abundance and improve the precision of the gravitational moment data, and hence permit interior models of Saturn of the same resolution as those of Jupiter.
