I describe two methods for estimating the amount of dark matter and characterizing its clustering. Adopting the halo occupation distribution (HOD) framework, I develop an analytic model for combining galaxy-galaxy lensing and galaxy clustering to constrain the matter density parameter (Omegam) and the matter fluctuation amplitude (sigma8). I present new constraints on Omegam and sigma8 obtained by applying to galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing measurements for SDSS galaxy samples.
Using galaxy clustering measurements on small scales, I construct scale-dependent bias shapes to improve estimates of the linear matter power spectrum over a large dynamic range, tightening constraints on cosmological parameters obtainable from the SDSS-II galaxy sample.
