Attention is given to the design features and operational capabilities of the Miyun 232-MHz, meter-wave aperture synthesis telescope, which consists of 28 9-m aperture elements in an east-west array. The longest of the 192 baselines effected, with a full coverage of the UV plane, is 1164 m. The instrument is designed for source surveys and detection of peculiar sources in northern declinations; the 8 x 8-deg field of view facilitiates an overall survey of the region whose declination is greater than 30 deg within two years, as well as the monitoring of selected areas.
