The authors report on observations of the globule L 810, ranging from optical to radio wavelengths. The radio data suggest a kinematic distance of 1.5±0.5 kpc. The cloud mass is about 500 M_sun; and the total luminosity 350 L_sun;. At the position of the NH3 peak a near infrared source was found, which seems to be the dominant heating source of the cloud. A narrow filament emanating from this source shows Hα and the [S II] lines 6717 Å, 6731 Å. In the direction of the filament a nearby H2O maser was found. L 810 is the first isolated globule where a recently formed intermediate mass star associated with an H2O maser has been observed.
