A non-radial non-adiabatic linear stability analysis of selected models for Wolf-Rayet stars is presented. Strange-mode instabilities with growth rates in the dynamical range are found to affect both radial and non-radial perturbations up to the harmonic degree l~ 250. On the basis of the results of the non-radial stability analysis it is argued that strange modes and associated instabilities are caused by mode pairing of ordinary acoustic modes. Some implications of the non-radial instability of Wolf-Rayet stars are discussed.
