The New Luyten Two-Tenths catalog contains a large number of high proper motion white dwarf candidates that remain to be spectroscopically confirmed. Using a reduced proper motion diagram and an optical- infrared color diagram we originally selected over 400 candidates, of which only half were already known white dwarfs. A survey conducted at APO's 3.5m and at MSO's 1.9m confirmed the nature of some of the unknown objects, adding 61 cool white dwarfs to the local population. We propose to pursue our spectroscopic investigation of the remaining 151 white dwarf candidates. The spectra will allow us to determine the surface composition of the white dwarfs as well as their effective temperature, surface gravity and absolute luminosity using model atmosphere techniques. These new photometric parallaxes will allow us to determine their kinematics and, consequently, their membership to either the thin-, thick-disk or halo populations.
