The invariant latitude of the diffuse-precipitation boundary (DPB) in the morning sector was determined from Aureol 2 and 3 satellite observations. Attention is given to a model of the mid position of this boundary in the MLT sector from 0 to 6 h, and to the effects of geomagnetic activity and interplanetary conditions on the boundary dynamics. Experimental data on the DPB position are compared with theoretical calculations.
