The observation of the long-period pulsating red giant stars by amateur astronomers is described. The general problem is period determination. Analysis of the light curve of seven stars was based on the discrete Fourier transformation method of unequally spaced date. Usually these variables oscillate in one or two radial modes, but sometimes in the power spectra more main peaks are visible. From the period values many physical parameters can be determined. It can be difficult to decide whether the pulsational behavior is multiperiodic regular or irregular as randomness and chaos.
