The results of a spectrophotometric investigation of the object Markarian 71 are presented. The physical conditions and chemical composition of four condensations in this object are determined. The degree of ionization and the electron temperature in all four regions of Mark. 71 are of the order of or higher than in Mark. 59 and II Zw 40, which surpass normal H II regions with regard to these parameters. It is concluded that either the ionization in the condensations of Mark. 71 occurs through a mechanism which is different from that in normal H II regions, or the sources of ionizing radiation in them differ from those in H II regions. It is noted that the values obtained for the electron temperature and the relative abundances of the heavy elements are in agreement with the model values calculated for regions of rapid star formation.
