A procedure for Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) fringe-fitting incorporating antenna-based delay and rate residuals is described. The method, although not as powerful as the Global Fringe Search technique of Schwab and Cotton (1983), makes only modest demands on computing resources and does not require an initial estimate of the source structure. The method is easily used for both narrowband and wideband VLBI data, and can be incorporated into the standard data reduction chain.
