This paper describes some phenomenological aspects of the evolution of photospheric granulation. The different types of 'formation' and 'disappearance' have been studied, and the statistical frequencies of the corresponding processes have been determined. It has been confirmed that the most prominent process is fragmentation. The mean lifetime of individual solar granules with different types of evolution has also been determined.
