Combined Mark II and Mark III VLBI observations of SS 433 at lambda = 21 cm with the European VLBI Network on June 13, 14, 1984 permitted the mapping of an unusually extended radio structure at low levels of brightness. Weak emission features as far as 1200 mas from the core were detected. This structure delineates about 85 percent of a precession period and is comparable in size with MERLIN and VLA mpas of SS 433. Assuming a velocity of 0.26c for the emission features, a distance to SS 433 of 5.0 kpc + or - 0.3 kpc is derived.
