The behavior of a disk of charge-separated plasma about a charged magnetized nonrotating neutron star is analyzed. Vacuum and plasma regions in the disk are postulated, axial symmetry is assumed, and an exact solution for the disk is obtained. An exact solution for the case of a rotating uncharged star is briefly considered, and the stability of the exact disk solution is evaluated. An application to the pulsar problem is outlined. It is shown that discontinuous space-charge solutions exist and that the gap solution of Ruderman and Sutherland (1975) can be modified to produce a differentially rotating magnetosphere that does not seem to require a stellar-wind transition.
