An unsuccessful search for 22-GHz H2O emission from eight globular
clusters is reported. The upper limits imply that late-type variables in
globular clusters are less likely to be maser sources than their field
counterparts. The greater age or lower mass of these globular variables
may be responsible for the lack of H2O maser emission.
