Spectrophotometry and a model atmospheres analysis specifically for hot white dwarfs classified as DO are presented. The three stars which currently have this spectroscopic classification have very different atmospheric He/H abundance ratios: (1) HZ 21 fits an effective temperature of 48,000 K and a logarithmic He/H abundance ratio of 0.8; (2) HZ 34 yields an effective temperature of 50,000 K and a logarithmic abundance ratio of -1.7; and (3) GD 394 is basically DAwk with a lower abundance ratio at an effective temperature of 33,000 K. The first two stars apparently have abundances intermediate between DA stars and the (cooler) DB helium white dwarfs. The theoretical problem posed by the existence of hot degenerates with intermediate atmospheric compositions is briefly discussed, as are some predictions for future ultraviolet observations of DO stars.
