The Nearby Supernova Factory reports that a spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of SN 2006dp in MCG-01-03-056 (CBET #574) obtained July 13.6 UT with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2- meter telescope, reveals that it is a Type II supernova. P Cygni features from hydrogen Balmer lines, He I 587.6 nm, and the Ca II infrared triplet are visible. The maximum ejection velocity measured from the blue wings of the H-alpha and He I 587.6 nm absorption features is approximately 10,000 km/s.
