A classification scheme is presented for the different kinds of finite boundary points and (classical) singularities of incomplete spacetimes. The classes include regular boundary points, singular boundary points, curvature singularities, quasi-regular singularities, scalar singularities, and nonscalar singularities. Examples of each class are provided to illustrate the different behavior of the geometry near each type of boundary point and singularity. Local, global, and maximal extensions are examined along with the existence of the various singularities, some of their unusual properties, and the effect of curvature singularities.
