Examination of Schmidt plates of the field surrounding 3U 1538-52
reveals several possible optical candidates. Discussion of existing data
indicates that the optical counterpart is likely to be a reddened OB
supergiant. The most probable stars, based on position, color, and
magnitude, are pointed out.
