A convective energy flux is analyzed under conditions of temporally periodic variations in the acceleration of gravity, which are encountered in the case of Cepheids and in components of close binary systems during asynchronous rotation. It is shown that the amplitude and phase of oscillations in the convective energy flux depend on the ratio between the thermal and mechanical relaxation times of the convective elements. The results indicate that the phase shift of convective-flux oscillations will be positive if the mechanical relaxation time is smaller (which occurs in late-type dwarfs) and will be negative if the thermal relaxation time is smaller (which may occur in Cepheids).
