The reported decline trend in global ozone between 1970 and 1986 may be in part an artifact of the analysis, the trend appears to depend on the time interval selected for analysis - in relation to the 11-year solar cycle. If so, then the decline should diminish as one approaches solar maximum and includes data from 1987 to 1990. If the decline is real, its cause could be the result of natural and human factors other than just clorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
