We describe a dynamical interaction between the secular resonances of a planetary system (or system of planetary embryos) and a disk of planetesimals that appears capable of significantly reducing planetary eccentricities while requiring that only a modest fraction of the system mass be represented in the planetesimal swarm. Here we will report on the general nature of Secular Resonant Damping and discuss how this mechanism may have acted during the formation of the planets.
