In a minimal symmetric model and in an electroweak model with a charged scalar singlet, the cross section for elastic scattering of a neutrino by leptons with helicity flip is calculated. This cross section can considerably (by more than five orders of magnitude under the specified conditions) exceed the one for neutrino scattering in an electromagnetic channel which is due to the existence of a vacuum magnetic moment of the neutrino. This leads to more stringent astrophysical and cosmological constraints on the parameters of the models.
