We explore the evolution of disk galaxies for z=0-2.5, using a faint K-band selected sample with photometric redshifts based on 7 bands. Our results are based on the Faint InfraRed Extra-galactic Survey (FIRES) with ISAAC on the VLT, that supplements optical HST data from the Hubble Deep Field South with 96 hours of J,H,Ks (10-sigma limit of Ks(AB)=25.5). We measure the redshift evolution of the size-luminosity relation, the rest-frame UV luminosity function, and using our deep near IR data the rest-frame optical luminosity function. We also estimate the mean stellar ages of our sample galaxies and quantify their contributions (as a function of color) to the mass and star formation rate at a given redshift.
