A program of observations of the sun at the Danjon astrolabe at the Abrahao de Moraes Observatory at Valinhos (Brazil) has been under way since 1974. The successive observation of the transits of both limbs through the same altitude circle yields the solar diameter. The necessary modifications of the astrolabe for solar observations are briefly described and the results of the diameter measurements are presented. For the period from 1980 to 1987 the solar diameter displayed a smooth variation, with an amplitude of 0.21 arcsec and a period of 1000 days, in complete agreement with Laclare (1983).
