A complex pattern of interaction between the South Temperate and Tropical regions, seen first in 1975 - 76 and again in 1979 - 81, recurred in 1982 - 84. In these interactions, a disrupted segment of South Temperate Belt - the STB Fade - induces features resembling South Tropical Disturbances as it passes the Great Red Spot. This paper describes this third "South Tropical Dislocation", which was the most prolonged and elaborate to date. It produced features resembling South Tropical Disturbances as the STB white ovals passed the GRS, but none of them became stably established.
