We present preliminary results of the X-ray spectrum of the Seyfert 2
galaxy Markarian 3 obtained with the High Energy Transmission Grating
Spectrometer (HETGS) onboard the Chandra X-ray Observatory. We discuss
the excitation mechanisms responsible for the X-ray emission in relation
to the nuclear activity of the source.
