Supernova remnants are luminous, extended X-ray sources of high complexity, and are thus rich fields for exploration with imaging spectroscopy. I will present early results from a program to study young supernova remnants with the Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS) on Chandra, with the first few of our targets including the LMC plerion 0540-69.3 and the brilliant Galactic remnant Cassiopeia A in a 50,000 s observation, the longest obtained for it so far with ACIS. We compare with images at other wavelengths, explore the spectral morphology of the diffuse emission, and isolate spectra on fine spatial scales, including emission associated with the stellar remnants in these objects.
