Scientific paper
The authors consider the possibility of using the rotation-induced deformation of a neutron star (NS) as source of nourishment of stellar energy losses. The star collapsing process caused by cooling yields deformation energy which transforms into heat keeping NS in hot state for a long time. The estimates of NS cooling time were obtained which take into account both neutrino losses and the losses caused by photon radiation for the two types of equations of state with and without π- mesonic condensate (real baryonic gas). For a time less than 10 years NS is cooling down to ≡108K and later to 105K for τ ≡ 107 years. It is shown for two pulsars, for which the estimates of rotation energy are reliably established that the deformation energy transformed into heat slows down essentially (and sometimes stops) the NS cooling process.
