A century ago, Antonia Maury, detected a subclass of B to F-type stars with peculiar lines and line strengths which thereafter became known as chemically peculiar (CP) stars. Subsequently, these stars revealed other peculiar features, e.g. the existence of a strong global magnetic field with a predominant dipole component located at random with respect to the stellar rotation axis and the center of the star. The evolutionary status of the CP stars is still an unsolved question. Unambiguous detection of a large sample of this star group at different environments is therefore needed to clarify dependencies with age and galactic locations. Open clusters are an ideal laboratory for such investigations, since fundamental parameters like the age, the distance, and metallicity can be determined based on numerous cluster members - a vital advantage compared to studies of single field stars. The tool of (Delta) a photometry enables us to detect this objects in an extremely efficient and economic way also at more distant galactic regions. An extension to such areas, combined with the already well studied solar neighbourhood, allows for the first time the compilation of a global picture of the CP content in the Milky Way.
