The Astronomy and Astrophysics Survey Committee (AASC) was charged by the National Research Council with surveying space- and ground-based astronomy and astrophysics and recommending priorities for the most important initiatives for the U.S. in the coming decade. The committee was also charged with addressing the effective implementation of both the proposed and the existing programs, the organizational infrastructure, the human aspects of the field involving demography and education, and technology development. To carry out its charge, the committee convened nine panels with over 100 members and consulted broadly with the astronomical community. In this session, the committee's recommendations for the coming decade will be discussed. Our discipline has a long tradition of setting priorities, and we remain unique in the U.S. in doing so. With your support, this report has the potential of being as successful as previous decade surveys in advancing astronomy and astrophysics.
