The Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) is planned to be a successor to the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). NGST will be an infrared telescope with a large primary mirror in the range of eight meters. The NGST Mission Simulator (NMS) has been developed to facilitate the analysis of NGST spacecraft designs and mission profiles. The NMS computes exposure times, mission elapsed times, signal-to-noise ratios, and sensitivity data for a given NGST spacecraft design and pool of candidate observations. The simulator provides a powerful parameter variation feature for the analysis of mission trade-offs involving the variation of one or more NGST design features over a range of values. This paper describes the architecture and methodology of the NMS parameter variation feature.
