Disconnection events in comet Halley in April 1986 are discussed. Observations were made both from La Palma, Canary Islands, and from Australia in order to get as long time coverage as possible. The 3D heliospheric current sheet was modelled from large-scale solar-magnetic field observations made at Wilcox Solar Observatory, California. A current sheet's crossing of the comet is suggested for the D.E. of 13/14 April 1986. Two days earlier another D.E. occurred. At that time no polarity change was observed but instead a strong compression region in the solar wind. For this D.E. of 11/12 April the authors therefore suggest the interaction region between slow and fast solar wind as the cause.
