The decay of cometary nuclei into meteoroid showers is reviewed. Meteoroids provide important clues as to the density, strength, composition, thickness, and smoothness of the surface layer of the cometary nucleus, and also provide a guide to the cometary formation mechanism and enable the amount of mass previously lost by a comet to be calculated.
