After general remarks on the diffuse interstellar lines (DIL) the necessity to select the objects under investigation upon astrophysical criteria is stressed. The dependence on galactic longitude of the relative strength of the DIL at λ = 4430 Å is given. A possible connection between the strength of DIL originating in stellar aggregates and radiation density is shown and discussed.
